TYLORSTOWN v CEFN COED

Cefn travelled to the Rhondda for this early 1.30 pm kickoff prior to the Wales v Argentina international. The game began at a frantic pace with play mainly in the centre of the field. However, after a superb break by outside half Luke Williams, who had a fine game overall, the number 10 handed on to Liam Elliott to score wide out. Williams added the conversion to see the visitors take an early 7 nil lead.Tylorstown were shocked by this early score and began to dominate upfront with some excellent forward drives. The defence of CEFN held out on numerous occasions but it was a lucky bounce of the ball which eventually saw the home side score after a high kick through evaded the defensive cover for an unconverted try in the corner. The second half continued very much as the first with play going from end to end before Luke Williams added a further penalty to extend the visitors lead. CEFN began to dominate this hard fought top of the table clash but against the run of play TYLORSTOWN added a try after a forward driving maul. With the score going unconverted the scores were level and the visiting supporters wondering whether they were going to see the league table leaders lose for the first time. These thoughts were quickly expelled with an excellent unconverted try by Alex Gwynne which saw him beat two men to score in the corner. With time running out CEFN added a further penalty by Luke Williams to see the visitors maintain their unbeaten league record. This win which was achieved through tremendous team work with  captain Alan ' pupgog'Jones leading from the front supported by Gareth Williams who has added a different dimension to Cefns play from the back of the scrum. With results in the division going in favour of CEFN with Old Penarthians and Wattstown losing the Wolves extended their lead to 7pts at the top of East Central Division 3
