CEFN COED v CARDIFF SARACENS

CEFN COED RFC v CARDIFF SARACENS

The first ever vist to the Black Patch of the Cardiff Saracens resulted in a most entertaining 1 pm kick off. Both sides tried to entertain the spectators with some enterprising rugby. However, it was the strong defensive play of the home side and swift counter attacking play resulted in the home side scoring first through full back Nathan Thomas. The try was converted by Luke Williams. Play was mainly confined to the middle of the park for the next 10 minutes before the CEFN Eight took charge through tries by Gareth(Denver) Williams who added a further two to score the first hat-trick of the season.

With the half time score at 19 - 3 CEFN were constantly put under pressure by the Saracens pack. However, exciting play by the three quarters after a score by Captain Alan (Pup Dog) Jones resulted in the scoring of further tries by Nathan Thomas, Luke Thomas and finally Luke Williams who converted 6 tries to run out winners by 52 pts to 3 pts.

This result allowed CEFN to go into the Christmas period with 8 straight wins to head the East Central Division 3B table with 34 points. Next week  CEFN travel to Cardiff to play St Albans who currently prop up the Division.
